The Baoding Zhili Governor's Office Museum Holds Its Council Founding Assembly

On the morning of November 2, the inaugural meeting of the Board of Directors for the Baoding Zhili Governor's Mansion Museum was held, along with the first session of the council. Attendees included Comrade Wan Jinru, a second-level researcher at the Baoding Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, and Tourism, as well as all members of the museum's first-ever board of directors.

The meeting was held in two phases, with the first phase chaired by Director Ma Li. During the meeting, Director Ma Li read out the "Approval from the Baoding Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, and Tourism Regarding the Establishment of the Board of Directors for the Baoding Zhili Governor's Mansion Museum," along with the list of board members. The board consists of 17 directors in total, with Comrade Wan Jinru appointed as its chairman, and 16 additional members—including representatives from the supervising authority, other government departments, and influential community figures who have shown support and interest in the museum—serving as regular directors.

Chairman Wan Jinru nominated Zhou Junli, Director of the Museum Division at the Baoding Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television, and Tourism; Liu Chenggang, Director of the Cultural Relics Management Division at the same bureau; and Ma Li, Party Secretary and Director of the Zhili Governor-General's Residence Museum in Baoding, as Vice Chairmen. Additionally, Chairman Wan proposed that Comrade Ma Li also serve as the Secretary-General, a suggestion that was unanimously approved by the assembly. Following this, Wan Jinru presented appointment letters to all the newly elected directors.

The second phase of the meeting was chaired by Chairman Wan Jinru. During the session, Deputy Director Zhang Han read out the "Charter of the Baoding Zhili Governor's Mansion Museum," which was unanimously approved by the assembly. Museum Director Ma Li then presented the museum’s 2023 work summary and outlined its 2024 strategic plan to the attendees. At the conclusion of the meeting, Chairman Wan Jinru delivered a summarizing speech, emphasizing the critical role the Zhili Governor's Mansion Museum plays in the dual-city narrative of Baoding and Xiong'an. He underscored that the next step for the board is to unite as one, pool collective wisdom and efforts, and collaboratively drive high-quality development of the Baoding Zhili Governor's Mansion Museum. First, he stressed the need to effectively leverage the board’s role by ensuring that major museum decisions are promptly reported to the board, with its opinions sought and its oversight embraced. Second, to achieve sustainable, high-quality growth, the museum should capitalize on the board’s platform to attract expert involvement in its initiatives, while intensifying efforts to deeply explore and highlight the rich cultural heritage of the governor’s mansion, thereby fueling its advanced development. Finally, he highlighted the importance of enhancing the museum’s outreach and promotion. By integrating the board’s resources and crafting a distinctive institutional brand, the museum can collectively amplify its visibility, championing the Zhili Governor's Mansion and further solidifying Baoding’s reputation as a city of cultural excellence.

The establishment of the Board of Trustees for the Baoding Zhili Governor's Mansion Museum will further strengthen the museum's extensive connections and deepen its collaboration with various sectors of society, thereby driving high-quality development across all initiatives and enabling the Governor's Mansion to contribute significantly to building an internationally renowned cultural and tourism city, a national hub for museums, and the revitalization of the ancient city's core area.
