The Zhili Governor's Mansion Museum was established at the end of 1990 and is a specialized museum built on the site of the former official residence. Since its opening, the museum has continuously enriched its collection of cultural relics through acquisitions, donations, and transfers—now showcasing a carefully selected group of 58 items (sets) to visitors.

Former Provincial Government Headquarters

From 1949 to 1958, during the period when the Hebei Provincial Government was based in Baoding, the provincial government was housed in the Zhili Governor's Mansion. On the site of the former provincial treasury building on East Road, a two-story gray office building with a large Soviet-style roof was constructed.

The grand gate, ceremonial gate, main hall, second hall, official residence, and upper chambers along the central axis of Zhonglu constitute the core architecture of the Governor's Mansion, while the faithfully restored displays within each hall serve as the focal point of the mansion's exhibition.

The Governor-General of Zhili and the Special Exhibition on Zhili

The governor-general was the local official responsible for governing one or several provinces, overseeing administrative affairs within their jurisdiction. The position of Governor-General of Zhili became an established post in the second year of the Yongzheng era (1724) under the Qing dynasty, serving through eight emperors over a span of 187 years—during which time 74 individuals held the role.
