From 1949 to 1958, during the Hebei Provincial Government's tenure in Baoding, the provincial government was headquartered at the former residence of the Governor-General of Zhili. On the site of the original provincial treasury building on East Road, a two-story gray office complex with a large Soviet-style roof was constructed. It was here that veteran revolutionaries such as Yang Xiufeng and Lin Tie, who served as provincial government chairmen, once carried out their daily administrative duties. During this period, the provincial leadership spearheaded land reform across the province, provided crucial support for the War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea, oversaw the three major socialist transformations, and actively implemented the First Five-Year Plan. Additionally, the building also became the focal point for investigating and addressing the high-profile corruption case involving Liu Qingshan, then Secretary of the Tianjin Regional Party Committee, and Zhang Zishan, who held the position of Commissioner of the Tianjin Special Administrative Region. After 1958, the building successively served as the office space for the Baoding Prefectural Administration, the Baoding Municipal Revolutionary Committee, and the Baoding Municipal Party Committee headquarters.
