The grand hall boasts a three-bay facade, with the central bay adorned by a pair of elegant doors, while the两侧 are separated by graceful red wooden fences, allowing unobstructed views through the ceremonial gate. On either side of the ceremonial gate stand small auxiliary doors. The ceremonial gate itself is designed as a hard-gable-style entranceway, measuring 5.6 meters deep—slightly smaller in both form and scale compared to the main gate. This second gateway at the Zhili Governor's Residence, known as the "Yi Men," embodies the meaning "to set an example for others to follow." During the Qing Dynasty, official court etiquette was exceptionally elaborate and rigid. Although the Governor of Zhili held the prestigious rank of Second Grade, he typically also carried the title of Minister, elevating him to First Grade status. As a result, very few of his peers were honored with the privilege of personally greeting him outside the Yi Men; most visiting officials were instead relegated to entering through the more modest side door of the ceremonial gate.
